Garner Denver compressors June 01st 2005 Gardner Denver is one of the world leaders in the manufacture of air compressors. Robert Gardner was born in London in 1832 and went on to found the company in 1859. Today, Gardner Denver manufacture compressors in the UK, Germany, Finland and the United States with a world-wide distribution network
Advanced technology, careful engineering, micro-precision manufacturing, total quality management, and unmatched aftersales service and spare parts have made Gardner Denver the choice where reliability and total value are essential
With ISO9001 and CE approvals, Gardner Denver products are used throughout UK industry providing reliable energy efficient compressors for a wide range of applications. Products produced comply with both the latest EMC and pressure equipment directives (PED) Climate Change Levy With the introduction of the climate change levy (CCL), there is more reason than ever to implement energy saving measures. Gardner Denver have produced variable speed compressors for over 6 years and believe in the right product for the right application, recommending variable speed compressors only where air demand variations justify. Potential energy savings for each customer can be simulated using special software, ensuring the correct selection of equipment to match customer demand. Savings of up to 35% can be achieved
For details of the allowances available refer to the official website: www.eca.gov.uk Gardner Denver are able to offer a comprehensive range of variable speed compressors to the benefit of smaller workshops right through to the larger factory. Variable speed compressors also have other benefits including maintaining a constant network pressure (saving energy in the process), and soft starting to reduce current on start-up (due to inverter technology)
As an alternative where a stable air demand exists, fixed speed compressors with Efficiency 1 motors are available. This takes advantage of the enhanced capital allowances (ECA) whilst the user also benefits from lower energy consumption (typically a 30kw Eff1 motor could save over £1 000 in electricity costs over the Eff2 version during it’s lifetime)
Energy recovery for real savings In order to maximise energy conservation it is necessary to look at the potential for waste heat recovery - this can be substantial. The heat is dissipated from the motor (5%), oil cooler (72%) and air cooler (14%)
For air cooled compressors two systems are available, a system (+W) is available to recover heat from the oil cooler as hot water, and temperatures of up to 70°C can be achieved
The hot air could alternatively be used for space heating during the winter, if hot water is not required for factory processes
For water cooled compressors, a choice of hot water systems are available for oil cooler only (DIR), or both the oil and air coolers (PRE)
