AirOptimus – a unique, flexible, customer-driven compressed air service programme June 01st 2005 The Air Optimus approach - unique to Atlas Copco - is designed from the outset to maintain its customers’ complete compressed air networks, from generation to point of use, at peak operational efficiency thereby maximising uptime and minimising running costs.
The expert on the team In addition to a choice of fixed price preventative maintenance contracts that include compressors and ancillary equipment, the Air Optimus programme virtually puts a compressed air expert on the customer’s management team – but not on the customer’s payroll. It is a proactive approach developed jointly by the compressed air user and an Atlas Copco field consultant to cover every aspect of compressed air operation – from generation and delivery to questions of air quality, effective system maintenance and the achievement of energy savings.
The consultant’s role is to introduce ways in which the basic programme can be extended, or operations can be modified, to make additional gains in operational efficiency and to realise energy savings throughout the life of the contract. (For example, Atlas Copco discussions with The Carbon Trust have helped to develop ideas to promote the Trust’s interest-free loan initiative for energy-saving equipment.) Bespoke solutions Atlas Copco customers can consider tailoring a bespoke Air Optimus package to meet their precise needs: Periodical Energy Audit:Measures, audits and reviews every element of a compressed air system in detail..
Annual System Efficiency Review: An overview of a current compressor mix and pipework in the context of future requirements.
Air Leakage Audits:, this valuable technique identifies problems thus reducing waste and saving energy.
System Control and Management: Sophisticated software that controls and manages multiple compressor installations, optimising overall efficiency and reliability - and minimising energy costs.
Air Quality Audits: Measures the air quality at any point in the system against specific needs.
Quality Air Surveys: Air Optimus ensures that appropriate standards are met throughout a customer’s plant.
An Air Optimus agreement will result in the submission of regular field visit reports by the service support team and a periodical overview of the entire compressed air network, identifying any potential to reduce the costs of generation and reviewing Atlas Copco’s performance throughout the period.
